On Saturday 1st September a team of 23 members of Premier Estates’ staff completed a gruelling 25 kilometre trek through open countryside in the Peak District National Park and in doing so has raised £19,000 for the charity, Breast Cancer Now.

In July 2017 one of their colleagues, Jess Stack, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Having fought and won, Jess returned to work in February 2018 and her colleagues decided to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now, by taking part in TrekFest, an event organised by Global Adventure Challenges.

The trek started in the Hope Valley and involved a large circular walk, with some challenging ascents. All members of the team managed to complete the walk and at the end, whilst exhausted, were enormously satisfied to have completed the trek and raised a significant sum for such a worthy cause that is focused on funding research into a disease that suddenly became much closer to home when it affected one of their colleagues.

The team managed to raise £9,500 in sponsorship and Premier Estates agreed to match fund the donations received. Therefore their efforts have raised £19,000 towards the vital research that will allow others in the future to beat breast cancer, just as Jess has.

The team, of various fitness levels, spent a number of summer evenings preparing for the event by completing training walks, including climbing Bosley Cloud, White Nancy and Teggs Nose.

Premier Estates’ chairman, Ben Jordan, said “We were all absolutely devastated last year when Jess revealed her diagnosis and could not have been happier when she returned to work earlier this year having returned to full health. We were delighted when her colleagues decided to undertake this challenge to raise money for the vital research which probably helped save Jess’ life and hopefully the money raised will go some way to ensuring others in the future enjoy the same positive outcome as Jess. Over the years our employees have raised several hundred thousand pounds for various charities but no single event has raised as much as this one”. The team are currently planning their next fundraising effort.

The team are very grateful to all colleagues, friends, relatives, suppliers and others who supported the fund raising effort to such an extent.
