We would like to send a huge congratulations to Katie Barrett on passing her apprenticeship exams and securing a permanent role with Premier Estates as Business Administrator. 

Katie has kindly provided us with a snapshot of her apprenticeship journey below for you to read:

“The journey of being an apprentice is often a mix of anticipation, hard work, and a LOT of personal growth. Looking back, I am so amazed at how much I have learnt in the past 2 years. When I first started, I was nervous as it was such a big stepping stone for me – the beginning was the hardest part! I had to learn the ropes, adjust to the pace, and had to become comfortable with a lot of new software and procedures so everyday brought a new lesson. There were moments of frustration when things didn’t go as planned, but those moments were balanced by small wins which was usually a payday butty, or a sweet treat!

“Everyone around me at Premier has helped shape my perspective and some of the best wisdom which has taught me the value of patience, how to stay focused on long term goals and continuously improving my work and my knowledge.”

An invaluable learning experience

“My apprenticeship has been an invaluable learning experience that has not only shaped my skills but has taught me life skills about perseverance, problem solving and adaptability; things are forever changing and don’t always go as planned which has been a true test!

“I was pushed to go beyond simply following instructions and made me think critically about each decision I made, from assessing the problem to figuring out the most efficient and effective solution. One of the biggest challenges is managing your time, whether you were good at it before or not, apprenticeships really test your ability. Often there would be multiple tasks to juggle, deadlines to meet and unexpected issues that require immediate attention. With that you learn how to prioritise tasks, communicate clearly and still keep focus whilst under pressure.

“All in all, I am really happy to have been able to do the apprenticeship and have gained so much from this opportunity, Katie.”
